Oh Hey Adam K!

An Update From the West Coast

Hi People!

So here’s how the past week in L.A. has gone so far…

Monday:

  • I hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and a cardigan… C’mon! I had to… haha, I didn’t even bring a cardigan.
  • Went straight to Park La Brea to drop off my stuff. The apartment is like a pretty old, but big Midtown-NYC apartment, with shitty South Campus furniture. But we have a couch, without those hard arm rests, so I’m not complaining.
  • Sharon took me to In-N-Out. Animal Style Fries are heavenly.
  • Went up to an outlook to take pics by the Hollywood sign
  • Picked up my rental car. It’s a tiny-ass Kia Rio. I feel like I’m in a clown car when I drive it. Uses up a tiny amount of gas though.
  • Dinner at Maggiano’s, some Italian place at The Grove. Was a cool first night, but doesn’t compare to Bertucci’s though.

Tuesday:

  • Orientation Day. Lots of people talking. Me almost falling asleep.
  • View from on top of a parking garage at The Grove:
  • Lunch at the Farmer’s Market. Eh. Too pricey.
  • Grocery shopping at Ralph’s. I just walked around complaining that I wasn’t at Trader Joe’s.

Wednesday:

  • Some meetings. Eh.
  • Some driving. Yay!
  • I went to Trader Joe’s. I got my granola and stir-fry sauce. I was a happy boy.

Thursday:

  • Lunch at the Farmer’s Market with Sharon. Still wasn’t impressed.
  • Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills. Mmmm. Cupcakes.
  • Found out I had an interview the next morning in Santa Monica… so I drove to Santa Monica to make sure I wouldn’t get lost. I didn’t. I’m a champ.
  • Drove on the freeway for the first time. It was awesome. The 10 is my new best friend.

Friday:

  • Interview-palooza! Internship interviews in Santa Monica in the morning, West Hollywood in the afternoon and a phone interview in the late afternoon. Lots of interviewing, lots of driving, a little hectic, a lotta fun!
  • Young Alumni Panel at night. Got to see one of my Freshman year FYSOP Staff. FYSOP love spans coast-to-coast.

Saturday:

  • BU in LA Trip to the Getty Museum. Fine arts’ just no my thang. Pretty sick views of LA though!
  • Fat Burger. It’s as disgusting and awesome as it sounds.
  • Walk down the beach in Santa Monica. The beach? In January? Say whaaaa?

Sunday:

  • Chill-time at the beach in Santa Monica. I repeat: The beach? In January? Say whaaaa?

I promise I’ll get a more interesting life soon. Or at least make more interesting updates. No celebrity sightings yet. But Mario Lopez shoots “Extra” at The Grove, right next to my apartment complex, and “E! News” shoots in the office building next to my classrooms, so they’ll come.

Next week: the start of classes and internships. Stoked!

Have fun on the East Coast with those winter storms!
